The NFL pushed back Thursday night against suggestions that one of its clock operators committed another significant mistake.
The play occurred late in the first half of the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. Bills tight end Charles Clay was hit and knocked out of bounds by Jets safety Rontez Miles at the Jets' 43-yard line at about the one-minute mark.
NFL rules require the clock to stop when a player is determined to have gone out of bounds if the play occurs after the two-minute warning.
