A hometown hero joins the New York Jets. Who would ever not like the sound of that? Well, it’s come at the expense of another hometown hero, complicating matters just a bit.
On Tuesday morning, the Jets organization announced the signing of running back Pete Guerriero and waiving of safety Anthony Cioffi—the very same man who was signed back to the roster just a few days prior.
Guerriero led FCS in rushing a year ago with 1,995 yards and 18 touchdowns on 298 carries. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Monmouth back also ran track and field for the college.
