Bad medical luck continues to haunt the New York Jets.
Hours before their Thursday game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced that tight end Ryan Griffin would be placed on injured reserve. The first-year Jet had previously been listed as out for Thursday’s game with an ankle injury.
Griffin, 29, joined the Jets in July. He had taken over the starting tight end role after a suspension and injuries kept incumbent starter Chris Herndon off the field. The former Houston Texan had 320 yards on 34 receptions this season. Five of those catches went for touchdowns, setting a new career-high for the seven-year veteran.
