The New York Jets placed safety Marcus Gilchrist and right tackle Breno Giacomini on injured reserve on Tuesday.
Gilchrist left Sunday’s game with a torn patella tendon in his knee. He will have surgery on his knee and go through months of rehab. Giacomini didn’t play on Sunday because of back, shoulder, and calf injuries. The right tackle started the season on the PUP list because of a back injury. He returned and played in five games and got hurt again. Jets coach Todd Bowles said that Giacomini will probably need surgery.
This season Gilchrist played in 13 games and had 55 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and three defended passes.
