What do you do when you want a player to return to your team? You break the rules. The New York Jets apparently broke many NFL rules to get cornerback Darrell Revis to come back in 2015.
At the time Revis was playing for the New England Patriots and had just won a Super Bowl. Jets owner Woody Johnson made it known through the public that he would love to have Revis back. However, what the NFL fined them for doesn’t cover everything. Apparently, they did much more than we all suspected.
Gang Green called the cornerback through private cell phones and had face-to-face covert meetings at the 2015 scouting combine in order to sign him, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
