With the New York Jets’ preseason slate in the books, all eyes turn to the roster cutdowns.
On August 27 at 4 p.m. EDT, all NFL teams cut their rosters down from 90 to 53 players in one fell swoop. Any player on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, NFI (Non-Football Injury) list, or IR (Injured Reserve) will need to make the initial 53-man roster before being put on the list, meaning they will count toward the 53-man roster at the beginning.
That’s why, if you see Thomas Morstead cut, don’t panic (just like last year).
