The New York Jets desperately need a young starting center, a feature wide receiver, a starting cornerback, defensive line help, and that devastating edge rusher this franchise has lacked since trading away John Abraham before the 2006 season.

We can speak ad nauseam about GM Mike Maccagnan‘s wasted and wasteful personnel decisions over the previous three seasons. But credit him for some great moves in this free agency period.

The Jets at least now have a star running back, a proven slot receiver, and a punishing middle linebacker. Last year, the general manager secured a franchise quarterback, a potential star tight end, and an exciting third-down back.
