In a move that didn’t surprise anyone, the Jets released corner back Antonio Cromartie Monday morning. Cromartie was due to receive eight million dollars for the 2016 season, none of which was guaranteed. The Jets will get back all of the eight million on Cromartie’s contract, freeing up a good amount of cap space. This move was easy to see coming as Cromartie struggled the entire first half of the season, then finished the season at an average level. The best Cromartie could have hoped for was a restructured contract, but from a cap standpoint the best move for the Jets was to move on.
