Jets defensive end Mike Catapano, who attended Chaminade High School in Mineola, could be placed on injured reserve after suffering “a possible Lisfranc” foot injury in Sunday’s overtime win over the Giants, Jets coach Todd Bowles said.
“Yeah, we’re deciding that,” Bowles said on a Monday conference call of the possibly of Catapano’s season coming to an end. “We’re going to meet on that later.”
The website for the American Academy of Orthoepaedic Surgeons states Lisfranc injuries occur when bones in the midfoot are broken or the ligaments that support them are torn. The severity of the injury can vary from simple to complex, involving many joints and bones in the midfoot.
