ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Matt Patricia tried not to send mixed signals as he sought to decipher the cause behind the Lions’ worst loss in a home season opener in franchise history.
The first-year Detroit coach said the difference in Monday’s 48-17 loss to the Jets came down to a simple aspect of football: The Jets made plays and the Lions did not.
“I don’t think it was a situation where we were outmatched or outmanned,” Patricia said. “We obviously just got out executed.”
After the game linebacker Darron Lee, who had an interception for a touchdown, said the Jets knew the play the Lions were running.
