Looks like Jets will avoid a Geno Smith start

The Jets quarterback crisis looks like it may not be that big of a deal after all.

Both starter Ryan Fitzpatrick and backup Geno Smith were full participants in the 30-minute window of practice the media is permitted to watch Wednesday. It was a question whether either would be able to play this week against the Jaguars, but both looked fine.

Fitzpatrick tore a ligament in his left thumb on the first series of Sunday’s 34-20 loss to the Raiders. Since the injury is on his non-throwing hand, the concern was whether he could take snaps from under center and hand the ball off with his left hand.
