Mike Maccagnan's roster purge claimed its latest victim on Thursday. The Jets GM shipped former first-round pick Calvin Pryor to the Browns in exchange for linebacker Demario Davis.
The move seemed inevitable. The Jets drafted safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye in the first and second rounds this year, and declined the fifth-year option on Pryor's rookie contract. When Pryor didn't show up for the Jets' first OTA practice May 23, then noticeably sulked on the field while working with the third-team defense this week, his days in green and white were understandably numbered.
But Pryor's departure is a bit more noteworthy than others shown the door this offseason: He is yet another John idzik draft pick who didn't work out.
