LI's Mike Catapano goes on IR, ending season with Jets

Two days after getting his first sack of the season, Jets defensive end Mike Catapano’s season is over.

The Chaminade graduate and Princeton alumnus was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after suffering what Todd Bowles described on Monday as “a possible Lisfranc” injury in the Jets’ overtime win over the Giants Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Catapano hurt his right foot shortly after sacking Eli Manning in the Jets’ 23-20 comeback victory.

The decision to put him on IR officially was made after he sought second opinions at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Tuesday.

This is the second straight year Catapano, 25, will end his season on IR.
