FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Leonard Williams, the second-year defensive lineman who led the New York Jets in sacks in 2016, was chosen by his teammates as the team’s most valuable player, an honor Williams said Friday he was grateful for, but didn’t want to make a big deal of, considering the Jets’ 4-11 record.
“When I got the award and had to go to the front to get the award, guys were joking around, trying to make me give a speech and stuff like that,’’ Williams told reporters Friday. “And I’m just like, ‘I can’t be too jolly up there, just because the season hasn’t been too great.
