Led by Sam Darnold, Jets' draft class could be deepest in years

A breakdown of the New York Jets' 2018 draft class and its progress after three weeks of training camp:

Sam Darnold, QB, first round: The Jets couldn't be happier with Darnold, who plays with uncommon poise for a rookie. He has been getting the majority of the first-team snaps in practice and could wrap up the starting job with a strong showing in the third preseason game. Some people in the building believe it's his job to lose.

Nathan Shepherd, DE, third round: The former Division II standout is on track to replace Muhammad Wilkerson as the starter opposite Leonard Williams.
