Josh Johnson signs with Jets

Even with Matt Flynn in the fold, the Jets still aren't done adding backup quarterbacks.

The Jets signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson, who worked out with the team on Thursday. The team announced the signing on Twitter after a source confirmed Johnson's workout.

Johnson, 29, has spent time with six teams since 2008, including two stints with the Cincinnati Bengals. The NFL journeyman was released on Tuesday by the Bengals after he lost out to A.J. McCarron for the backup role behind starter Andy Dalton.

The Jets are now in desperation mode following the Aug. 11 locker-room altercation that left former starter Geno Smith with a broken jaw.
