It seems the Jets have gotten their man.
Adam Gase said he wanted a head coach of the defense, and it appears Gregg Williams is going to be joining him in Florham Park, ESPN reported Tuesday. The Jets are finalizing a deal to hire Williams, according to the report, as he was believed to be picking between the Jets and Redskins.
Williams would be a somewhat controversial hire, considering his role in the Bountygate scandal with the Saints. He’s an aggressive, in-your-face coach who is known for his attacking style of defense. He served as the Browns’ interim head coach this past season and went 5-3 after the team went 2-5-1 with Hue Jackson.
