Matt Flynn may have just signed with the Jets, but he already has to look over his shoulder.
The Jets will work out journeyman quarterback Josh Johnson Thursday, according to a source. Johnson was recently cut by the Bengals.
Gang Green signed Flynn last week to be their backup quarterback to Ryan Fitzpatrick while Geno Smith recovers from a broken jaw. At the time, head coach Todd Bowles only offered faint praise for Flynn, saying “he was the only one available.” Flynn is recovering from a hamstring injury but Bowles is hoping the quarterback will be ready for the team’s final preseason game next week.
