FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Before Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium, the New York Jets will honor the late Dennis Byrd with what promises to be an emotional pregame ceremony.
It will start with a video tribute to Byrd, showing his story from a promising young player to his inspirational comeback from a broken neck that temporarily paralyzed him and ended his career in 1992.
Byrd's widow, Angela, and her children will serve as honorary captains and will accompany the team's game-day captains to midfield for the coin toss. There will be a moment of silence.
