GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The spirit of Dennis Byrd will be with the New York Jets on Monday night.
To honor the late Byrd, who was killed Saturday in a two-car collision, the Jets will wear a "90" decal on their helmets when they face the Arizona Cardinals at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Byrd wore No. 90 from 1989 to 1992, when his career ended with a broken neck. At the time, the team also honored Byrd with a helmet decal. The franchise officially retired his number in 2012.
The Jets will have a formal tribute at their next home game, Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
