Jets Waive QB Bryce Petty

The Jets have waived quarterback Bryce Petty.

Petty entered the NFL as the Jets' fourth-round selection (103rd overall) of the 2015 draft after two seasons of prolific passing out of the shotgun at Baylor. He didn't play at all his rookie season, then saw action in six games with four starts in the second half of the 2016 season following injuries to starter Ryan Fitzpatrick.

He got his only win as a pro starter in Game 13 at San Francisco. The Jets fell into a 14-0 hole in the game's first five minutes and trailed 17-6 before Petty directed drives in the last 5:04 of regulation to 11 points — including his own two-point conversion run — to send the game to overtime, then leading the game-winning 63-yard drive to Bilal Powell's 19-yard TD run for the 23-17 comeback victory.
