The Jets on Thursday waived former Monmouth tight end Neal Sterling, a Manasquan native who had been a reserve for them.
A roster spot opening up perhaps is good news for wide receiver/returner Jalin Marshall, who is eligible to return from a four-game suspension (performance-enhancing drugs) for Sunday's game at the Browns. It is not clear yet if the Jets will activate Marshall for the game.
The Jets have a roster exemption for Marshall that expires Monday. So what does this mean?
Well, the Jets would still have to put Marshall on the 53-man active roster -- and now they have a spot -- if they want him to play in Cleveland.
