Jets unsure when injured TE Jace Amaro will return

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - The days have turned to weeks, and now it's unclear exactly when Jace Amaro will see the field again.

The second-year tight end suffered a sprained shoulder in the Jets' preseason opener in Detroit on Aug. 13. And Todd Bowles doesn't seem optimistic about his return. "He won't be practicing no time soon," the Jets coach said Monday.

Amaro, a 2014 second-round pick, was spotted on the field for the first time since the injury. But he spent much of practice in the rehab area with other injured teammates.

Pressed for more details about the extent of Amaro's shoulder injury, Bowles said: "He can't use it.
