McCown was fine. Actually, he probably exceeded expectations, as he ranked 11th in the NFL in quarterback rating. But he is now 39 years old — and obviously isn't the Jets' future at quarterback. The Jets hoped 2016 second-round draft pick Christian Hackenberg could be their future. But he stunk again in 2016, and the Jets ditched him this offseason. He played zero regular season snaps for them. Bryce Petty got his chance again in 2017, but he clearly isn't starter material (57.7 career rating in 10 games, with seven starts).
This guy named Sam Darnold. After Petty and Hackenberg failed to prove themselves with the Jets, the organization cut bait.
