The New York Jets have agreed to trade quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the New Orleans Saints, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter.
With the expectation that Sam Darnold will be the starter, the Jets had a glut of quarterbacks with veteran Josh McCown, Bridgewater and rookie John Wolford.
Playing mostly with the backups, Bridgewater has completed 74 percent of his passes in the preseason, compiling a 104.7 passer rating. He has proved that his surgically repaired knee is sound.
Bridgewater played in 29 games for the Vikings in 2014 and 2015 but missed all of 2016 after suffering a catastrophic knee injury.
