Joe Douglas decided having three third-round picks was better than two.
The Jets general manager sent the No. 48 selection overall to the Seahawks for picks No. 59 and 101. The move gave the Jets four picks on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. They also had the No. 68 and 79 choices in the third round.
Douglas apparently felt he could get better value picking later even with some highly-rated receivers on the board. Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool and Baylor’s Denzel Mims were both on the board when the Jets were scheduled to pick.
The Jets need help at multiple positions beside wide receiver.
