The Jets on Tuesday announced that center Kevin Mawae will be this year's Ring of Honor inductee. The Jets did not have a Ring of Honor inductee last year.
Mawae will be inducted at halftime of the Jets' Oct. 1 home game against the Jaguars.
Mawae was a Hall of Fame finalist this year, but was not elected. He spent eight of his 16 NFL seasons with the Jets, from 1998-2005.
Mawae was an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro. He made six Pro Bowls with the Jets and twice was a first-team All-Pro for them, in 1999 and 2001.
