GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Jets will honor the memory of Dennis Byrd on Monday night during their game against the Cardinals with a helmet decal bearing his number 90 on it.
Byrd died Saturday after getting into a two-vehicle crash in his native Oklahoma. Byrd played for the Jets from 1989-92, his career cut short by a broken neck. The injury left him paralyzed, but he defied doctors’ prognoses and walked again weeks later.
The team is planning a tribute to Byrd on Sunday when they play the Ravens.
