The Jets filled a need early on the third day of the draft – taking Miami tight end Chris Herndon in the fourth round.
Herndon, 22, caught 40 passes for 477 yards and four touchdowns last year for the Hurricanes. His season ended after 11 games because of a torn MCL in his left knee. Herndon said he felt he would have been drafted earlier if not for the injury, which kept him from participating in the Senior Bowl or the scouting combine.
“I feel like definitely what made me drop so low was my knee and teams being questionable about it,” Herndon said.
