The Jets added veteran depth at inside linebacker Saturday by agreeing to terms with former Cowboys standout Bruce Carter, a source confirmed.
Carter, 28, chose the Jets after visiting the Bills and Lions last month. He will compete with fellow veteran addition Erin Henderson for the job at weakside linebacker, vacated when Demario Davis recently signed with the Browns.
The one-year deal is a low-risk move by the Jets because Carter has done little since early in his career in Dallas.
Carter was available after being cut in March by the Buccaneers just one disappointing year into a four-year contract.
