Jets sign Nick Marshall

A day after unsuccessfully trying to claim former Panthers cornerback Bene Benwikere, the Jets signed former Auburn quarterback-turned-NFL cornerback Nick Marshall to the active roster.

Marshall, 24, signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent last offseason but was cut in September and signed to the practice squad. The second-year corner played in 13 games as a rookie, making one start, and had nine tackles and one pass defensed. He also averaged 26.6 yards per return as the Jaguars’ kickoff returner.

As Auburn’s starting quarterback from 2013-14, Marshall (6-1, 206) led the Tigers to an SEC Championship in his final season.
