The New York Jets have signed wide receiver/kick returner Jeremy Ross and placed defensive lineman Lawrence Thomas on injured reserve with a torn labrum.
Ross was with the Jets in training camp, but was among the team’s final cuts. He will replace rookie Jalin Marshall, expected to be sidelined a few weeks with a torn labrum, as New York’s primary returner.
Ross had six catches for 89 yards, four punt returns for 48 yards and returned two kickoffs for 66 yards for the Jets this summer. He was practicing with New York on Thursday.
Thomas, an undrafted free agent from Michigan State, made the Jets’ roster and played in all three regular-season games.
