Jets Sign DE Mike Catapano to Practice Squad

Catapano (6'4", 290) is a Long Island native, having grown up in Bayville and played high school ball Chaminade in Mineola. He went to Princeton where he earned Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012 and played in the 2013 East-West Shrine Game.

His strong Ivy career attracted Kansas City, which made him the seventh-round pick (207th overall) of the 2013 draft. He played in 15 games for the Chiefs as a rookie, recording a sack against the Raiders and four tackles in all.

Catapano reportedly suffered from two physical issues that landed him on injured reserve last year: a gastrointestinal-based virus and a concussion.
