Heaps (6'1", 208) came out of Skyline HS in Sammamish, WA with a career 40-2 record and 114 touchdown passes to 18 interceptions as the top-rated QB prospect in the country by several recruiting services.
He played his first two seasons at BYU, then transferred to Kansas and head coach Charlie Weis (the former Jets offensive coordinator). He played at KU one year, transferred to Miami, and played sparingly for the Hurricanes last season (three games, no starts, 6-for-12 passing, 51 yards).
Copeland (5'11", 260) was signed as an undrafted free agent by Dallas last year but was cut by the Cowboys in late August.
