The slow clap was only the start.
It greeted Sam Darnold as he ran out to the practice field Monday for the first time as a signed quarterback for the Jets, and there’s surely more grief to come from his veteran teammates as training camp moves forward.
“We’ll see,” wide receiver Jermaine Kearse said. “He might have to stand up and sing a song or something like all the rookies. But we’re excited to have him back.”
With the No. 3 draft pick’s contract finally signed, sealed and delivered, Darnold began taking snaps with the rest of his teammates in their second padded practice of camp.
