The Jets' talented and deep defensive line might be the heartbeat of their team, but that won't preclude the brain trust from adding another piece if necessary.

The Daily News has learned that Gang Green is interested in free agent defensive tackle Nick Fairley as part of a contingency plan should they lose one or more key pieces up front.

Free agent nose tackle Damon Harrison is expected to have multiple suitors in free agency this week and could be too pricey for the cap-strapped Jets, who only had $6-7 million in spending money as of Monday night.
