Despite getting thumped by the Jaguars, Sam Darnold and the Jets' coaching staff said they saw progress from the rookie quarterback during Week 4. But that progress clearly didn't show up in the numbers.
In Sunday's 34-16 win over the Broncos, though, that headway was obvious.
Finally, after a frustrating few weeks without a downfield connection, Darnold finally found his man.
The breakthrough came with 10:46 left in the second quarter, when Darnold perfectly placed a throw over Robby Anderson's shoulder after he'd beaten his man, springing a 76-yard touchdown that put the Jets ahead 14-7.
