CLEVELAND — Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold and the Jets came here Thursday night, hoping to avoid an embarrassing loss to the Browns, who were 0-18-1 since their last victory (Week 16 of 2016) and 4-50-1 since Week 12 of 2014.
But the Jets couldn't do it, as the Browns finally won, 21-17, despite the Jets holding a 14-0 lead until 27 seconds remained in the first half. This was a humiliating defeat for the Jets, no matter how you slice it.
Baker Mayfield — the first overall draft pick this year, two spots ahead of Darnold — replaced Tyrod Taylor for the Browns.
