Jets' Ryan Fitzpatrick considering surgery before season ends

EAST RUTHERFORD — Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to have to have surgery at some point to repair the torn ligament on his left thumb, and he hasn't ruled out the possibility of having it as early as Friday.

In a production meeting in the days leading up to Sunday's Jaguars-Jets game, Fitzpatrick told CBS he might have the procedure done before the season was over.

"He said he probably will not wait until the end of the season to undergo that surgery," sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl said on the live CBS broadcast just before the Jets' 28-23 victory kicked off.
