Doug Middleton's arm injury is a bit more serious than originally anticipated.
The backup safety is believed to have torn his right pectoral muscle in the Jets' 7-3 preseason victory over the Titans Saturday night. Middleton will get a second opinion to determine if surgery is necessary. If so, the Jets will place him on the season-ending injured reserve.
While the Jets haven't confirmed the injury, they did sign safety Robenson Therezie Sunday afternoon. To make room, they waived fullback Algernon Brown.
Middleton, who signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent last year, was in the middle of an impressive training camp.
