Jets replace Damon Harrison with light snack at nose tackle

Say hello to Steve McLendon, Big Snacks Lite -- literally and figuratively.

He's not as big or as talented as Damon Harrison, but McLendon is an experienced nose tackle who will do a credible job in the middle of the New York Jets' defense. On Wednesday, the Jets finalized a three-year contract with McLendon, who started 32 games in six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It can be worth up to $12 million.

This is how it goes in free agency, especially for teams in a tight cap situation. The Jets really wanted to keep Harrison, but he was lured to the New York Giants with a monster deal that included $24 million guaranteed.
