Jets release kicker Cairo Santos

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - A day after claiming kicker Jason Myers off waivers from the Seahawks, the Jets released kicker Cairo Santos, who still is recovering from a groin injury. The Jets also tried out former Vikings kicker Kai Forbath on Wednesday.

Myers lost the kicking job to former Raiders first-round pick Sebastian Janikowski, while Forbath was beaten out by fifth-round pick Daniel Carson. Forbath made 47 of 53 field-goal attempts in 23 regular- season games with the Vikings.

Taylor Bertolet has handled all the kicking chores for the Jets in their first two preseason games.

“Bertolet has done a good job, but we want to take a look at two more guys,” coach Todd Bowles said.
