FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets have a new return specialist -- Jeremy Ross.
With rookie punt/kickoff returner Jalin Marshall (torn labrum) sidelined for at least two weeks, the Jets re-signed the well-traveled Ross, who was on their training-camp roster. He was released on the final cutdown.
This move makes sense. Ross actually had a solid preseason, but he was victimized by the youth movement at wide receiver, as the Jets decided to keep three rookie receivers -- Marshall, Robby Anderson and Charone Peake.
Ross, 28, averaged 33 yards on kickoff returns (two attempts) and 12 yards on punt returns (four attempts) in the preseason.
