Quinton Coples was let go by the Jets because he didn’t fit the team’s 3-4 defense, not because of an alleged incident following last Sunday’s loss to the Texans in Houston, coach Todd Bowles and the former Jet both said.
According to an ESPN report, citing a team source, Coples was “involved in an incident” on the team’s flight home and “it didn’t sit well with the powers-that-be, sealing his fate.” There were no further details.
However, both Coples and Bowles said there was no issue either was aware of after the Jets’ 38-20 win over the Dolphins, Coples’ new team.
