The New York Jets' quarterback curse strikes again.
The team that once lost its starting quarterback to a serious calf injury in pregame wamups (Neil O'Donnell, 1996) has suffered another blow. Bryce Petty is done for the season (and perhaps for good with the Jets) after an MRI revealed a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder.
He got hurt while trying to tackle a cornerback on a fumble return. Nearly 50 years ago, the great Joe Namath once broke a wrist in similar fashion in a preseason game, perhaps casting the dye for this star-crossed franchise.
