FLORHAM PARK -- Charone Peake's season is likely over.
The Jets placed the second-year receiver on the injured reserve Wednesday with an ankle injury. To take his place on the 53-man roster, the Jets signed running back Travaris Cadet, most recently with the Saints.
Peake is eligible to return later in the season if healthy. Each NFL team is allowed to bring two healthy players off the injured reserve after an eight-week period.
A seventh-round pick in 2015, Peake, 24, was the Jets' No. 4 receiver behind Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Jeremy Kerley.
