Jets players grateful for CEO backing on anthem

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- After making national headlines last week at the NFL owners' meetings by saying he won't discipline any player who violates the league's new national-anthem policy, New York Jets CEO Christopher Johnson returned home and addressed his entire team the following day, reiterating his support of the players on the polarizing issue.

Johnson's position resonated with team leaders, who said Tuesday they appreciate the backing.

"We've been actively in conversations with Christopher, on how we can go about it, and other ways to make change," wide receiver Jermain Kearse said after the team's fourth OTA practice.
