Jets Place Wide Receiver Devin Smith On PUP, Cut 11 Players

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Jets have placed wide receiver Devin Smith on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and released 11 players, including kicker Ross Martin.

Smith is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last December, ending a disappointing rookie season. The second-round draft pick out of Ohio State had nine catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in 10 games before injuring his right knee. He had been on active/PUP since the start of training camp.

By being putting on reserve/PUP, Smith can’t practice or play with the Jets for the first six weeks of the season.
