FLORHAM PARK -- The Jets on Tuesday placed rookie tight end Jordan Leggett (knee) on injured reserve and signed defensive lineman Xavier Cooper to take his roster spot.
Leggett has been inactive for every game this season except one -- Week 5 at the Browns. And he didn't play in that game.
The Jets drafted Leggett in Round 5 out of Clemson. And now, his rookie season is over before it really even began. Leggett had expressed hope that he'd be able to return from his knee injury, which he sustained in the preseason, but that never materialized.
