FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets' roster upheaval continued on Tuesday, as they placed two starters on injured reserve -- right tackle Breno Giacomini and safety Marcus Gilchrist.
The Gilchrist move came as no surprise, as he left Sunday's game with a torn patella tendon in his knee. He will have surgery and faces several months of rehab.
Giacomini didn't play Sunday because of back, shoulder and calf injuries. He was hopeful last week at the prospect of playing, but evidently his injuries were more serious than he was letting on.
